CLASSROOM WORKSHOP (NOME): The students will be given a brief background in the history of metalsmithing/jewelry making and the availability of incorporation of locally found materials. They will be instructed in the basics of safety, piercing, cutting and forming of nonferrous metals. They will also be shown the basics of silver soldering with acetylene and jewelry grade silver solder. The students will be required to show their skills through the completion of projects. The grades will be based on 2 critiques and attendance. The students will be required to complete one project.

NOTE: There is a $20 materials fee payable to the instructor for this course. Silver sheet available for purchase at cost (optional). Students should bring safety goggles.

Kevin Busk is an artist, teacher and school administrator who has been sharing his artistic skills with Nome for many years.
